No matter where you live, vulnerability to disaster exists. But, it doesn't have to stop there. Each of us in our communities has the ability to reduce our risk. As disasters happen locally, solutions too are local. By building our own community's capacity, we become more disaster resistant. This can only be accomplished by working in partnership. No one sector has all the resources or solutions to tackle disaster resistance alone.

Public-private partnerships (or PPP) are the key and are not only limited just to government and business - the whole community has a stake in what is created. Partnerships must include volunteers, academicians, scientists, local organizations, neighborhood groups, media, educators, researchers, and of course all-sized businesses and all levels of government. By working together today, long-term strategies and practices are put into action to make each community safer.

Community Legacy® is about developing all hazard partnerships, enhancing capacity-building and making stronger, safer communities.
